Call for Student Volunteers

The 2026 NIME Conference invites applications for student volunteers to assist with the on-site running of the conference.

Student volunteers play a vital role in making the NIME conference run smoothly. In return for volunteering, student volunteers have their registration fees for the in-person conference waived and also have the benefits of gaining behind-the-scenes perspectives on conference organisation and making new friends and connections within the NIME community.

The deadline to complete this application is 17 April 2026.

What Student Volunteers Will do

Student volunteers will support a range of on-site activities, including:

  • Assisting with paper presentation setup and Q&A
  • Setting up and supporting installations, demos, and posters
  • Supporting workshops organisers with logistics during the workshop day
  • Helping coordinate evening music track performances
  • Supporting registration and general conference operations
  • Assisting streaming and hybrid aspects of the conference

Volunteers will typically work several shifts (~20 hours) during the conference, while still having time to attend sessions and events.

What Volunteers Receive

In recognition of their contribution, student volunteers will receive:

  • Waived registration for the full NIME 2026 conference
  • Opportunities to attend talks, workshops, and performances
  • A chance to network with researchers, artists, and practitioners
  • Firsthand experience helping run a major international conference

  • Be current students (undergraduate, graduate, or PhD) at the time of the conference
  • Be available to assist on-site in London during the full duration of the conference, including the Workshop Day (23-26 June 2026)
